How does a loser pool work? It's much like a Survivor pool, the twist is, you are picking teams to lose each week instead of win. So as long as you keep picking correctly, you Survive.
In this article however, we're going to explain something that is a bit deeper than just picking the loser. The reason being, now the pool options allow you to pick versus the spread, so this means, while you may have picked a team to lose, they could still win, and keep you in the game. And further, you could pick a team to lose, and although they lose, you are incorrect because the spread makes them a winner.
If all this is too complex for you, then switch your pool to "SU" right away. If you'd like to try to understand it, stick around, and check out these images.

First of all, here are three games, we're going to explain each game in detail, and why the points ended up where they did.
Game 1NewOrleans was picked to lose to GB. The spread was 5.5 in favor of GB, so we have to add the 5.5 points to NO's score before determining if they were a loser or not. The final score was effectively GB:42 to NO:39.5, thus meaning not only did NO lose the game, they also lost it using the spread. The net margin of victory is 2.5 points, and hence, the poolie is given 2.5
Game 2In game 2, GB was picked to lose to Carolina. Problem is, they won! But wait a minute, the spread was 9.5, so really this net score was CAR:23 GB:20.5 (or CAR:32.5 GB:30 depending on whether you add the spread, or remove it). Either way you look at it, GB did not cover the spread, and so are labelled a loser, but the poolie, is CORRECT and so he gains 2.5 pts, but more importantly, the correct pick and a win.
